Food Recovery is an important concept throughout all our food programs. Food Recovery enables us to deal with larger scale food donations and excess harvest from Food Bank Garden to ensure useable food isn’t going to waste. Perishable foods can be  processed for storage or turned into prepared foods to be shared back into the community through the Food Bank and our other food programs.

Donors include locals with gardens, farmers in the Valley, retailers in Nelson and the Valley, and corporate donors. With funding received over the past two years we have improved our food storage and kitchen facilities and have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers involved in the ongoing process of Food Recovery.
