Youth Mental Health Support

Our Youth Mental Health Support Program runs throughout the school year and is based out of the WEGCSS Learning Centre. This program is available to Slocan Valley youth and their caregivers. Using an outreach approach, our Youth Mental Health Support Worker (YMHSW) aims to help families build resilience and recovery in the areas of mental health, substance use, physical health, and positive life skills.

Once a week, Aimee McKenzie is available to provide remote or in-person support to youth and their caregivers, using a person-centred, strength-based approach. Her role is to provide a safe, supportive place where youth can access practical help to overcome barriers, navigate challenges and work towards social and emotional wellbeing.

This is a confidential outreach service. Further intake, assessment and formal referrals can be made through this service with the ongoing assistance of the YMHSW, who has a comprehensive knowledge of the resources available in our area. To access this service or make a referral, please email: youthmentalhealthwegcss@gmail.com

We would like to thank our generous partners, funders and donors for all their support.
